Woodford Bridge Country Club

I tend to use the majority of my reward points for short luxury breaks (see here!), which means for regular breaks for our family of six I’m always on the look out for great deals for big families! A year or so ago I found a really nice resort in Devon, ideal for a short country break, and I think they offer such an attractive deal, that I wanted to share it – I’ll also be booking it again for this spring.

The resort is called Woodford Bridge Country Club. It’s operated by Diamond Resorts & Hotels, an international timeshare company, based in Las Vegas. However, don’t be put off by this (!), what they offer in Devon is a fairly straightforward country resort, with options for a suite, apartment or 1-2 bedroom lodges (sleeping up to 6 people). There was no mention of timeshare, membership, etc. at any point during our stay or booking process, you just make a standard accomodation booking.

The resort has nice grounds, and facilities include a spa, gym, restaurant, takeaway delivery, play park, shop, etc. The lodges have a full kitchen, and are surprisingly spacious. We woke up to peacocks and ducks peering through our window when we stayed. The site is well maintained, and it really does a have a nice country feel. We also found plenty to do nearby, including a trip to Exmoor Zoo, which I’d also recommend. Our experience was very good, and TripAdvisor reviews generally seem to back this up with an average rating of 4+.

However, the fantastic bit, is that accomodation starts at just £40/night, even in February half term! This increases to about £70/night for a family of 6, staying in a 2 bedroom lodge. To access these rates, you need to use the 20% discount code EUSALE19 (note that some additional fees do apply on site for use of the spa/pool facilities on a standard booking). If that’s not cheap enough, Diamond Resorts has a 7.35% TopCashback code at the moment too, so if you book with this, once you get the cashback, that’s equivalent to about £65/night for a family of 6. Once you book they often also have an option to share your booking on social media and get a free bottle of wine on arrival (I’m no wine connoisseur, I drank it, but won’t vouch for it’s quality!). I’ve done some decent research about family options for school holiday accomodation, and I know that it can be a struggle to get a basic caravan or rooms at a Travelodge for that price (in fact I’ve seen campsites charge £11 per person per night!). Whilst this resort isn’t quite Centre Parcs or Forest Holidays, it is a really decent affordable option if you want a change of scenery, a nice environment and decent comfortable accommodation.

The TopCashback and EUSALE19 offers are also available for other Diamond Resort locations in the UK, which include Cromer, Perthshire, Lancaster and Carnforth – however I’m yet to visit any of these.

Oddly, Diamond don’t accept American Express in the UK though, yet in the US they offer a special Diamond Resort Amex Gift Card! So beyond the discount codes, you’ll be limited to a Visa or Mastercard reward card if you have one.

Note – I receive no financial incentives or commission for bookings with Diamond Resorts, this is simply a review of a deal which I was impressed with! However, if you want to sign up to TopCashback, it would be great if you used our referral link (and you’ll get a £5 bonus after you earn £10!)
